Red Fox Atelier
Doll maker Rafaela Neumeister is inspired by her love of textiles, beautiful colours and her inner child. She combines the use of antique and recycled fabrics with new ones to create trendy cuddly friends and décor kids love. Her passion is making dolls, and that is what her label “Red Fox Atelier” is renown for. Each of her dolls has the perfect mix of vintage handmade style with a professional and modern finish. Made out of the finest materials, and due to their handcrafted nature, no two Red Fox Atelier dolls will be exactly the same.
“Every doll I make is out of what I know I would have loved to play with and cherish as a child. I create dolls with a quirk, and they all have something special about them. As my dolls come to life in my hands, they each begin to gain a little personality and style of their own. I spend hours stitching and styling, adding accents and details; sometimes I even name them. I imagine what type of little girl would like to play with her, and love her – I only stop when the doll feels just right.”
“Nothing pleases me more than when a little girl comes into my atelier, looks at my display of dolls and identifies herself with one of them – points and says “that one” . Sure, my kids play with your mainstream dolls (OMG, Elsa!), they all do. But there is something truly special about owning a doll that is just yours and nobody else has. This is why I do what I do.”
Raf (as she likes to be called) spends her time making fabric dolls in her home studio in Melbourne, Victoria. She has three small children and is married to the love of her life.
