Richard Bailey’s draw
Richard Bailey has drawn pictures for a living for over 20 years. Originally from Perth, he has worked as an Animator, Character Designer and Storyboard Artist on a variety of animated TV series and movies including a number of Disney films. He has also designed toys for Moose Toys, created concept art for computer games as well as numerous freelance illustration jobs.
“My kids think I’m famous ‘cos I’ve got my name on the end of movies, which is pretty sweet. It’s a great buzz that they get such a kick out of what I do and enthusiastically tell their friends. I’m lucky to have never had a ‘real’ job, getting paid to do what I love.”
“Putting together a folio a few years back, I realized that whilst I had this great body of professional work in a range of styles, I had very little personal work. What was my own style? What did I like to draw when not doing something for someone else? I like to draw caricatures, my own spin of a cute n’ sexy cartoon pin-up and whatever else takes my fancy. I use a mixture of traditional pencil and ink on paper and digital software to produce my artwork.”
